Fullerton College Sports Field
Fullerton College
Fullerton College was ready to upgrade its Hal Sherbeck Field. They needed funding options that fit their budget and timeline. Through KYA they were able to utilize the CollegeBuys cooperative contract no. CB3570. CollegeBuys is powered by the Foundation for California Community Colleges and offers discounts on a wide range of products including sports facilities. KYA teamed up with Shaw Sports Turf to provide an elite turf surface for Fullerton College Athletics. This project aimed to equip the student-athletes with a high performing, safe field that gives them a competitive advantage over their competition. KYA installed a fantastic multicolored custom field. We started with alternating dark and light grey panels in 5- yard increments to create a backdrop for the bright yellow and blue midfield Hornets logo. We finished the area with the school colors, a bold blue for the end zones and sidelines with white lettering outlined in yellow. We ran into a roadblock when discovering the specific PMS blue color is patent by another college. KYA's tenacious team pushed to get authorization so Fullerton College could have the exact color needed to bring its field to life. Fullerton College and KYA are committed to partnerships fostering excellence and innovation. The new synthetic turf surface is one of its kind. We look forward to cheering on the Hornets for years to come!
Georgetown ISD Baseball Field
East View High School
Georgetown ISD is a mid-sized school district that is experiencing rapid growth. Due to high usage, they needed to replace East View High School's artificial turf baseball field. Georgetown ISD was looking to move beyond the standard crumb rubber/silica sand system with a higher-quality playing surface that met their budgetary needs. The old field had "irregular hops" when hitting balls, creating a trampoline effect and maintained a much higher surface temperature than newer options available today. KYA received full buy-in from the district after presenting the NR34 turf system that focuses on player safety and performance. Based on our past performance and partnership philosophy, Georgetown ISD knew KYA would knock this project out of the park. KYA maintained a tight installation window and provided an extensive warranty package. The NR34 turf system is engineered to mimic the characteristics of natural grass and clay. The East View HS field is the first turf system to utilize a shock pad underlayment system enhancing player safety and performance with an alternative natural infill that helps keep the turf surface 20-30 degrees cooler than traditional crumb rubber. This field is a true showpiece for the district, attracting the attention of all who play on it.
